Blog: As Above, So Below. Does your outer life reflect your inner life?

I took this at a volcanic lake in Germany with spas nearby. It was wonderful, but I have a question for you. Have you ever felt angry and on that day noticed a lot of angry people in the world as you travel it? We see through filters and wonder why the world looks or behaves a certain way. Become awake to the filters you have, like, “The world is not safe”, “I am not good enough”, “Everybody is angry.” Any of these can keep you in a rut of life-experience. Break free by realizing the unbound being that you are deep inside and have the courage to let it out to shine, create, and contribute its brilliance to this planet. Uncovering it is key. Learn to let go of your layers on top of the real you and find an entirely different life to live.

Blog: For Japan and The World. It’s Time.

A postcard picture from beautiful Sedona, Arizona.

This rare pearl of the cosmos, called earth, needs our attention

right now. It dies, we die. It flourishes, we flourish. Why? Because it is an expression of the one life in all.

In Japan, the Middle East, Africa, the streets of New York or your own home town, there are people who could benefit from your prayers and love. Anything other than love in us is ancient human habit and has brought this species to this precipice of war and self-destruction where we find ourselves today. Simultaneously, the love inherent in the human soul has created unparalleled beauty and human interaction as well. It’s time to tap that infinite resource in all of us.

Please take 60 seconds this very moment and reflect kindly upon those in Japan, those caught in the wars in the Middle East and Africa and those on the streets of your own town without home or shelter.

Doing this is not just for them, it is for your own well being. It is for your own heart opening to this era when love is the only healing balm on the planet. And we are its messengers.

With warm wishes for a healing world,

David

Blog: The 900 Year Old Saint and You.

Imagine one morning you awaken. Thoughts of your busy life begin to fill your head. Your eyes slowly open, trying to see through the sleepiness of the morning. You slowly focus on the ceiling, then the wall, then the corner chair.  And there he is, sitting in quietude, in his monks robe, just looking gently in your direction. Then he softly says, "You’re not dreaming. I’m really here." You realize that St. Francis of Assisi is sitting in your home chatting with you. Whether a dream or not, how often do you have this opportunity?

So you settle in. Quietly, he continues, "I realize you have been on a spiritual quest for a long time. How’s it going?" Still trying to grasp that you are talking to a saint from 900 years ago, you reflect upon your life journey and respond, "I’ve had some wonderful moments of profound peace here and there, but I believe there’s something even greater that I will find someday." A gentle and understanding smile crosses the lips of this warm-hearted saint. His eyes radiating a quiet knowingness you have yearned for your entire life.  Softly, he says, "That’s exactly why I’ve dropped by ~ to give you a small hint for this treasure hunt you’re on."  You realize you are about to receive guidance "in person" from one of the greatest sages of history.

Your heart beats a little faster. "Are you ready?" he asks with a playful glimmer in his eyes. You feel a flutter of butterflies in your stomach as his love and care moves your heart. "Yes – very ready", you respond. St Francis pauses a long time, looking at you, the room quiets to an eternal stillness. Time seems to have stopped….There is no future and no past, only now. Then, without fanfare, he says quietly, almost imperceptively, yet with a profound impact as if the words were coming from the source of the Universe itself.

"What you are looking for ~ is what is looking." You pause. Then, just for a moment, your mind stops and becomes acutely aware that what is peering out of your eyes is actually the presence of who you are, unconditioned by your past, unfiltered, just simply aware. The visitor smiles gently as he watches the impact of his simple guidance….And with that soft and timeless smile, you close your eyes for a moment of rest. Upon opening them, you see your new friend has vanished. Or has he? Is it possible that he and his message are placed eternally in your heart?

Perhaps he is right here – as you, the reader, read these words. Perhaps he is inviting you to know, that what you are looking for is actually what is looking at and reading these words in this very moment of your existence. If you are open, this may be what you have been looking for.

Blog: The Global Soul Want’s to laugh

I stepped back after performing in the streets of Hong Kong and applause broke out – also in the USSR (photo: Red Square with a famous Russian clown – when I had hair!), in India, and in many other countries. People love to laugh and be entertained. Why is this true?

First let me bring you up to speed. Before I became a global instructor of The Sedona Method, I was a mime and actor for 30 years on 5 continents for thousands of people on stage, television, and in film. I had the honor of meeting great souls, including noted author Norman Cousins, best known for healing himself from a degenerative spinal disease through laughter and massive doses of vitamin C. He generously endorsed me by saying, "David Ellzey is an accomplished court jester to humanity". Cool? I agree. An honor. But …

What does any of this have to do with you? Well, do you like to laugh or be entertained? The human soul relinquishes some of its suffering briefly when laughing. The mind quiets, pleasure chemicals are released in the body and brain and voila, our love of laughter. My discovery around this spinning earth is that all souls love to laugh, love to relax, love to forget their suffering and issues of life, love to live fully in the now. But there’s a small problem.

If we laughed all the time, we would look VERY funny and never get anything done. Hmmm On second thought, not a bad idea! But not very practical. The sad part is that other emotions like anxiety, fear, anger, all release chemicals too, but much less pleasing. In fact, they are harmful to our health if too many of these chemicals course through our veins and bodies for too long.

What’s the solution? Can you choose to stop reading this if you wish, or turn your head left or right? You have the ability to choose even when things seem more difficult. The option still exists, always, for certain things. I realize that you can’t choose different weather in your home town, for instance, but inwardly, with time, you learn you can actually choose what to do with your emotions. Anxiety, fear, and anger need not run your life. You have a choice. You can suppress them, pour them out into the world through expresssion or let the feelings go, dissolve them in this moment, and perhaps for the rest of your life. Intriqued? Would you like to speak, act, and love with calmness, strength and clarity, rather than from emotional reactivity and fear or anger?

In 1952 he was told he had two weeks to live. Lester Levenson chose instead to look inside at all his stored emotions and in letting them go, discovered the power of his own healing. He lived for forty two more happy years. He created the Sedona Method for you and I to use in our daily lives to feel the happiness and freedom that he found. Would you like to be free of the grip some emotions have on you and your life?

Click on the Calendar link above to see when and where in London, Holland, New York , and North Carolina you can learn this easy skill. As a bonus some of these upcoming courses have the extra treasure of being focused on dissolving non-love feelings you have for yourself and the world. These courses are for both new students and graduates. Could you love yourself more? It will change your life. Get out your calendar and mark the dates in September and October. Come shake my hand and say hello. Let’s laugh and enjoy life together. You up for it?

All my very best wishes for your freedom and happiness,

Blog: My Assisting the Birth Process.

Did I actually help give birth with my hands? Not exactly. Did I contribute to many women giving birth without pain and medicine? I hope so … Read on for how. It’s fairly inspiring and letting go is key …

For thousands of years the female human body has been a vessel for the mystery of creating and birthing an entire human baby. I am awed by this mystery and miracle. Since the dawn of medicine, however, there has been movement away from natural childbirth toward using medicine and hospitalization for birth. (Thankfully, in 1957, my mother went against the norm, fought off the doctors, and had me naturally).

Recently I had the joy of sharing the stage at a Hypnobirthing Conference in London with my dear friend, Jenny Mullan, (far right in picture). She is a prominent teacher of Hypnobirthing in the UK. This program assists women to relax and allow the natural ability of their body to give birth with less pain and often no medication, resulting in a more harmonious experience for them AND the baby. Relaxing is the key to allowing the blood, hormones, and chemicals of the body to direct the whole event. When fear enters the scene, blood is sent elsewhere than needed, chemicals can’t help as much to create the looseness of the joints or relaxation of the muscles ~ and the whole process becomes about tension, pain, and control by medicine, rather than fluidity and the beautiful cosmic event that it’s meant to be. The national U.S. average of women giving birth with cesarean section surgery is now 31%, or one in three woman, compared to 4% in 1965.

Marie Mongan (far left in the picture) is the contemporary proponent of hypnobirthing through her book, Hypnobirthing – The Mongan Method and through teaching. She was the honoree at the conference and is a pioneer in reminding us that who we are already has the wisdom to give birth not only to a baby, but to each moment of life itself.

Where does the Sedona Method(R) come in? Jenny is a Sedona Method coach and uses it’s techniques for releasing the fears of her parents-to-be. This helps in preparation for being at peace and open to a marvelous birth. She also shares it with the practitioners she trains to assist parents in the birthing process. She invited me to share the benefits of The Sedona Method with practitioners at this international conference. I was very pleased to do so.

What does birthing have to do with you? Birthing a baby is a metaphor for how you approach each moment of your life – either tight and contracted or loose and open. The truth of who you are – beyond the body – is unlimited in its ability to harmoniously handle each unfolding moment with ease. But just like in the birth process, if you are contracted inside emotionally and physically, each unfolding moment of life will have more pain than beauty. Resistance, fear, and contraction, guarantee suffering. Letting go is the greatest key.

If it’s hard for you to believe that life can be beautiful or fulfilling, just notice where these doubts come from. Were they there when you came out of the womb or did you pick them up along the way? If you don’t go into memory, are those doubts actually here in this moment ~ or is there perhaps more space here for new possibilities – if you don’t hold onto the past?

To let go of fear is to live life in a new way. Thousands across this globe are able to do that because of The Sedona Method. Click on the Calendar link above for when and where you can learn to let go of your fear, anxiety, and any feeling that hinders you living life to its fullest birth every moment.

I look forward to personally meeting you or seeing you again soon and helping you give birth to a tremendous life.

Blog: Lester Meets Deepak. Part 2. The Infinite You.

Read on for how timeless truths can improve your daily life starting
right now as you read this.

I just finished Journey into Healing here in Phoenix, AZ, at the Biltmore Hotel, beautifully designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The live program was given by The Chopra Center for Well-Being.  Studying with Dr. Deepak Chopra and his co-founder, Dr. David Simon, confirmed for me that the timeless truth of our unlimited nature that Lester Levenson, the creator of The Sedona Method, pointed us toward has been known for thousands of years.

In this program we learned of how it was eloquently and poetically spoken of in the ancient Indian Vedic scriptures (eastern scriptures exploring how the human soul is an individual expression of the Infinite – and how to awaken to that inner truth).

As dear Lester counseled us, there is no separation between us and the cosmos or God, only an appearance of it. We are all expressions of what can be called in quantum physics – an infinite field of possibilities, as are the waves of the ocean. The waves remain an expression of the one ocean with an appearance of individuality. Lester was so clear in helping us let go of this egoic sense of separation. I believe this technique of The Sedona Method – used for letting go of the ego and all its suffering -  is unparalleled in its simplicity.

Studying mime with a Kaballah Master (the mystic tradition of Judaism) at age seventeen, I was introduced to the idea that in space, both inner and outer, there exists an invisible and infinite potential of possibilities. We know in physics that there is no final ending or beginning to anything in existence. Life is better explained as an unending river of events appearing in time and space, yet originating from that which is timeless and infinite. In fact, let’s apply this to your emotional well being. If you want to feel free of your emotional turmoil easily and quickly, let’s try something …

Decide on a feeling that has hindered your happiness. Right now, I recommend you think of it now. Next, do me a favor and see if you can find where the absolute boundaries of the feeling are. Usually we can say its in the gut, or chest or neck, but really – check. Can you find the actual boundaries or does it seem that its energy bleeds into the area around it? Is it possible that your mind or memory is keeping it in place or appearing real by perceiving a fixed location? Let’s experiment. Quiet your mind for a nanosecond and open yourself to the possiblity that without the boundaries the feeling has the freedom to disappate or transform. What happens? Take your time. Try it….Open to this possibility. Go slow. Pause and breathe. Is there a shift, disappearance, or at least a bit of hope?

The Sedona Method brilliantly helps guide your attention to see that all feelings and thoughts are simply energy that can be allowed to dissolve, leaving inner peace, courage, and the deepest love. If you have ANY place in your life that is not as joyful or loving as you wish, whether in your relationships, at work, regarding the body, or money, you can dissolve your anxiety and other feelings and reveal the inherent stillness and wisdom which is your essential nature underlying all feelings. Stillness and wisdom are attributes of your boundless nature, the infinite you.

I can’t stress enough how essential a skill like this can be in daily life, especially in these times. With my heart, I highly suggest you check your calendar and move whatever you have to, to be able to attend the upcoming Sedona Method course here in NYC, April 10-11. If you are overseas, go to the Calendar link above and look at the upcoming dates in Scotland, England, and Holland in April and May. As a graduate, I recommend you rearrange your calendar to be sure to get to the advanced course, Effortless Relationships, to transform all your relationships and the one most importantly to yourself. Could you love yourself more? If so, do all you can to be at this course in New York on March 6-7 or in Holland, May 7-9.

So, my friends around this spinning planet, I send you my greatest care and good wishes. I very much hope to have the opportunity to support you in finding how a magnificent life is yours for the having.

For your freedom,

Blog: Did St Francis of Assisi walk his talk?

As the valley stretched before me across central Italy, my heart calmed and my stress quieted as I imagined St Francis of Assisi standing next to me atop the very wall I was standing on and saying, "Be still, David and know peace." As I was there in Assisi, I gained a sense of this great teacher who once voiced my favorite quote of my life, "Teach peace wherever you go and in whatever you do. And when necessary, use words."

Back in time, in a life-defining moment, St Francis stood on the battlefield and decided to walk away, against his families hopes for his reputation as a great soldier. He felt an unwavering voice inside telling him to follow peace. He definately walked the talk ~ and with violence and danger all around him.

When Lester Levenson, the creator of the Sedona Method, invites us in his teachings, to be still and know unlimited peace no matter what is going on around us, he wants us to know the peace that St Francis knew. This peace is beyond all worldly concerns. This is the invitation of the Sedona Method. Even amidst your daily trials, learn to easily feel free of anxiety, fear, anger and more.

For more information on how to dissolve anxiety and other emotions, click on The Sedona Method link above. For specifics on when and where you can find the peace that St Francis and Lester speak of click on the Calendar link above.

Video Blog: Speaking at a United Nations Leadership Training.

One of my heart’s desires happened Thursday morning; To guide world leaders to move beyond leading from emotions and instead, lead from the innate wisdom of the heart. And to use my skills of humor and inspiration to support this transformation. Long story short, the leader of a UN leadership training saw me present principles of the mind’s limitations at a prior event on Wednesday evening. Afterwards, she asked me to present at a leadership conference for the UN Development Programme the next morning. The conference participants carry out the United Nations Programs around the world. Needless to say, their responsibility and stress is high, whether they deal with irradicating poverty, war, AIDS, or more. We explored how to be free of limiting past beliefs in order to bring about change of personal, organisational, national, and global significance. But more importantly for you, watch this video for how this relates to your life. (3:30 minute video)

To learn how to let go of long held beliefs that inhibit you from living a powerful life, see the Calendar link above for the schedule of life-changing events.

Blog: Is Beauty or Suffering Your Homebase?

I was recently teaching The Sedona Method Coach Training in Holland. Afterwards, while exploring the city and the tulips in the countryside, I was reminded of the magnificence that exists in color, shape, and life. I also live in New York City and am reminded of how when we forget nature, we suffer ~ we feel a disconnection with ourselves and life. Indeed, we are nature too ~ expressed in human form.

If emotions are feeling overwhelming, one suggestion, in addition to attending one of our free introduction evenings, is to find some air you feel nourishes you. Get to some form of nature to remind you of your larger connection to existence and the universe.

Don’t postpone this self-loving step. Take a moment to plan it now. Then look at the "Free Evening" link above and mark your calendar for the next Free Introductory Evening, or register for the next full Sedona Method weekend. Life is too short to postpone knowing outer and inner beauty any longer.

Here’s to your greatest happiness and success,
