Blog: Lester Meets Deepak. Two Masters. Same Message.

Written at 24,000 feet in the air on my way to Phoenix, for Journey Into Healing.

Since I was first introduced to The Sedona Method in 1987 I have been moved by Lester Levenson’s  (The creator of this Method) message: We are unlimited beings, limited only by the concepts of limitation that we hold in mind. As I now teach this message and this technique for swiftly quieting the noisy mind around the world I’ve had the pleasure of seeing its transformative power.

As I have gotten to know more about Dr. Deepak Chopra, co-contributing to an upcoming book with him, (Stepping Stones to Success) and reading his teachings on consciousness, I see the perfect symmetry of his message with Lester’s.

In fact, it is the same message: We are a local expression of infinite existence. Our happiness and health is impacted by either focusing on our mind’s endless thoughts of limitations ~ or focusing on the unlimited background upon which all thoughts rise. This background is our essential nature, unlimited and pristine.

I am so inspired by this truth and by Dr. Chopra’s way of integrating science, medicine, and spirituality , that I will study with him and his co-founder of the Chopra Wellness Center, Dr. David Simon, for the next five days in Phoenix. The program is called Journey Into Healing and is a foundation for understanding the 5,000 year old healing approach of Ayerveda, the way to health and wellness in body, mind, and spirit.  The week will include training in Ayerveda, as well as yoga and meditation. Not to mention exploring the realization that we are infinite in our essential nature.

Regarding your own life, when you feel the confines of what your mind is creating about an issue, experiment with the possibility that your mind is not the final authority, you are. When feelings arise with that issue, consider the option of letting the feelings go and moving on with a more rewarding life. If you wonder how this is possible: The Sedona Method is the quick and easy “how to”. See the Calendar link above for upcoming events so you can transform your life with more happiness, starting now. (April 10-11 is upcoming in New York City)

Meanwhile, as the pilot announces our landing, I anticipate seeing the perfect synergy of Lester and Deepak ~ and dancing in the beauty of the one truth we are all learning to celebrate.  The unlimited nature of our true being.  What sweet freedom.

Don’t’ forget to check the calendar for upcoming basic and advanced events ~ if you are new to The Sedona Method or a graduate of this life-changing work.

Stay tuned. I’ll have more reports for you in the next five days.

My greatest love,

For your freedom,

Blog: Is Beauty or Suffering Your Homebase?

I was recently teaching The Sedona Method Coach Training in Holland. Afterwards, while exploring the city and the tulips in the countryside, I was reminded of the magnificence that exists in color, shape, and life. I also live in New York City and am reminded of how when we forget nature, we suffer ~ we feel a disconnection with ourselves and life. Indeed, we are nature too ~ expressed in human form.

If emotions are feeling overwhelming, one suggestion, in addition to attending one of our free introduction evenings, is to find some air you feel nourishes you. Get to some form of nature to remind you of your larger connection to existence and the universe.

Don’t postpone this self-loving step. Take a moment to plan it now. Then look at the "Free Evening" link above and mark your calendar for the next Free Introductory Evening, or register for the next full Sedona Method weekend. Life is too short to postpone knowing outer and inner beauty any longer.

Here’s to your greatest happiness and success,

Blog: Is This Technique For Real? Read Their Lips …

My testimonial folder is overflowing. Read how you can let go of anxiety, addictions, manage anger, dissolve grief and depression ~ regarding war, cancer, and more. People just like you. Inspiring stuff!

"Divorce, parenting issues, war, the market fluctuations are all happening, but by using the Sedona Method and the support you have provided, I am still at ease. This is radical and wonderful."
Jan Nolte, Upstate New York

"It is an honor for me to share about my bout with cancer.  I decided to call Maarten to have him talk me through releasing…The result was amazing. The pain was more manageable. After a few hours the nurses took away the device that I was no longer using to give myself morphine. We are looking forward to you coming back."
Bela Hetvany, Southern France

From Isreal during the war
"It was during the war in Israel. I came to the course and I was full with anxiety and a feeling of nonsafety, because I also lost my job because of the situation.

During the training I was releasing with David twice. It took me 30 minutes to let my deep anxiety go … And now, almost a month after that, I realize that it is gone forever. I’m full with energy, happy, creative. I feel calm and safe like I never was.

I was suffering from severe back problems, which were connected to my feeling of being unsafe. And they just left, that simple! I’m strong, erect and I exercise again. I also stopped drinking coffee and eating chocolate. I wanted to stop, but could not do so. And they also just left me, gone, dropped away. I didn’t do anything. I don’t need it any more.

I know who I am now, more then ever. I get myself, at last. I am happy. Thank you soooooooooo much, blessed David."
Shoval Aloni, Isreal

How to Survive the New Year and These Times of Change:

From 30,000 feet somewhere over New Mexico.

As the New Year comes, how do we gracefully complete and move on from one moment to the next, or to the next day, year, relationship, or job? Mastering change takes courage and an inner conviction to live a joyful life.

With the nearly zero degree weather and my special family holidays fading behind me in Chicago, I approach what’s next for me, teaching in Sedona, AZ. I sit in this back row seat on the plane and move on to what’s next – as all of us have done since we first traveled that long journey from the comfortable yet enclosed womb to this unlimited world outside of our mother’s belly.

Change of any sort can cause minor to major anxiety. Have you ever noticed that change often occurs – then after, we suffer. Or we suffer as we anticipate change. Sometimes the change has already taken place and the degree of suffering we feel is based largely on our longing for what was. This longing or holding onto what used to be is a kind of self-imposed hell we devise for ourselves.

I am not saying change is not challenging, I have lived through my own hellish journeys in my time. What I am saying is that our speed of transition is largely determined by the feelings we feel. More importantly, it is essential to know that feelings can easily be let go of and replaced with a deeper calm and peace, even during these rare times of global and personal change.

Lester Levenson, who created the Sedona Method, predicted these times and heartfully urged us to know who we truly are in order to make it through these days with courage and inner peace. He spoke of who we are beyond our emotional response. He was inviting you and me to let go of holding onto our rollercoaster of emotions and discover the unlimited, capable, peaceful soul that is beneath them ~ in essence, our true nature.

This may seem easier said than done. Yet, thousands worldwide continue to practice letting go through The Sedona Method and living more fulfilling lives. If you’d like to learn to let go easily and live a happier life in all circumstances, register now for a simple two day semimar that can change your life forever. See the Calendar link above for upcoming dates. If you are already a graduate, register for the advanced courses and experience a new level of ease and freedom in every area of your life, even that area that triggers your emotions the most. There is no limit to your freedom.

I look forward to seeing you face to face and supporting you in having a tremendous life.
Don’t postpone this opportunity. The door is open to your inner happiness. Just walk in.

Progress Report: Time for yourself. How’s it going?

As promised, here’s my update on how I’m doing with taking time for myself during the holidays with my family in Chicago. And you? Let me know below, where it says "no comments", if you have taken a moment for yourself this season and how it went. (The pictures included are examples of colorful decorations in the Chicago area … in our 3 degree weather)

The Report: Okay, my eyelids were drooping mid afternoon from lots of great food and late night conversations. It felt a little awkward to leave the group, but I said to my mom and sister, "Excuse me, but I need to rest my eyes for a bit," and set off to lay down for 30 minutes. I awoke able to take better part in the conversations. If you have family, kids, or other responsibilities, you still get to say, "I need to take a brief break …". Then take it.

The reason for this conversation about taking time for ourselves is not a superficial one. Many of us are good at caring for others, or focusing on everyone else but ourselves. This can be for numerous reasons, but the net result is a type of lie. We serve others as if being cared for is important, yet we don’t live that truth for ourselves. When you care for yourself, or love yourself enough to take a break, a walk, go to the gym, take a nap, a hot bath, or any other form of self care, you are saying you are worthy of love too. From this place you can actually care more full-heartedly for others.

Sometimes this requires that you let go of an old work ethic like, "life must be hard", and "others come before myself", etc. So I offer a suggestion; In the next day or couple of weeks, you promise yourself before you click off this page, that you will do something that would feel self-loving. Decide what it is and do it. Maybe more than once! (Be radical!)

If you can do this, I bet that your quality of life will rise a notch and your January will be a lot easier because you did some self care during the previous weeks of this season. But dont let me put words in your mouth. Give me a report in the comments below. (Where it says "no comment". Your comments are only seen by me, even though it looks like they are public)

Enjoy your time off, regardless of the length!

Here’s to your well being and happy holidays,

FacebookEmailGoogle BookmarksDeliciousStumbleUponTechnorati FavoritesTwitterMySpaceShare

Holiday Gift To Yourself. Time for YOU.

Do I sound crazy and unrealisitic to propose that you create some time just for you during this season? I speak of the need for it from very personal experience. I am off to Chicago to be with my family for two weeks, then on to Sedona to co-teach an advanced course with my friend and mentor, Hale Dwoskin (right), director of The Sedona Training Associates. Exciting? You bet.

And yet, so much to do at 2:30 am. It’s late! My eyes are drooping, but no rest for the weary, right? Wrong. What rule book is that written in? Well, I admit I had been following whoever’s rulebook that was, but not for long.

See the thing is, what quality of life do you have if you are always working to check things off the non-ending "to-do" list? So here’s my agreement with myself. Listen carefully, because I propose you do the same.

In the coming two weeks, I will consciously keep my eyes open for moments or more when I can take care of myself. If that means saying to my family, "Excuse me", and escaping to my room to rest or take a walk, then that is what I will do. Now if you have kids or responsibilities, this means you summon up the courage (and self-respect) and ask for support to have a break, no matter how short.

Okay, that’s my proposal. Are you in? Write a comment below if you are willing to join this revolution and take time for yourself in the next couple of weeks. I’d love to know. I will also post a blog about my progress while I am with my family. Above all, be open to the discovery that working hard and non-stop is a habit and in breaking it, you may just find the quality of your life kicks up a very important notch.

Here’s to your time for you.

Happy Holidays!
For your freedom,
