Blog: As Above, So Below. Does your outer life reflect your inner life?

I took this at a volcanic lake in Germany with spas nearby. It was wonderful, but I have a question for you. Have you ever felt angry and on that day noticed a lot of angry people in the world as you travel it? We see through filters and wonder why the world looks or behaves a certain way. Become awake to the filters you have, like, “The world is not safe”, “I am not good enough”, “Everybody is angry.” Any of these can keep you in a rut of life-experience. Break free by realizing the unbound being that you are deep inside and have the courage to let it out to shine, create, and contribute its brilliance to this planet. Uncovering it is key. Learn to let go of your layers on top of the real you and find an entirely different life to live.

Blog: The 900 Year Old Saint and You.

Imagine one morning you awaken. Thoughts of your busy life begin to fill your head. Your eyes slowly open, trying to see through the sleepiness of the morning. You slowly focus on the ceiling, then the wall, then the corner chair.  And there he is, sitting in quietude, in his monks robe, just looking gently in your direction. Then he softly says, "You’re not dreaming. I’m really here." You realize that St. Francis of Assisi is sitting in your home chatting with you. Whether a dream or not, how often do you have this opportunity?

So you settle in. Quietly, he continues, "I realize you have been on a spiritual quest for a long time. How’s it going?" Still trying to grasp that you are talking to a saint from 900 years ago, you reflect upon your life journey and respond, "I’ve had some wonderful moments of profound peace here and there, but I believe there’s something even greater that I will find someday." A gentle and understanding smile crosses the lips of this warm-hearted saint. His eyes radiating a quiet knowingness you have yearned for your entire life.  Softly, he says, "That’s exactly why I’ve dropped by ~ to give you a small hint for this treasure hunt you’re on."  You realize you are about to receive guidance "in person" from one of the greatest sages of history.

Your heart beats a little faster. "Are you ready?" he asks with a playful glimmer in his eyes. You feel a flutter of butterflies in your stomach as his love and care moves your heart. "Yes – very ready", you respond. St Francis pauses a long time, looking at you, the room quiets to an eternal stillness. Time seems to have stopped….There is no future and no past, only now. Then, without fanfare, he says quietly, almost imperceptively, yet with a profound impact as if the words were coming from the source of the Universe itself.

"What you are looking for ~ is what is looking." You pause. Then, just for a moment, your mind stops and becomes acutely aware that what is peering out of your eyes is actually the presence of who you are, unconditioned by your past, unfiltered, just simply aware. The visitor smiles gently as he watches the impact of his simple guidance….And with that soft and timeless smile, you close your eyes for a moment of rest. Upon opening them, you see your new friend has vanished. Or has he? Is it possible that he and his message are placed eternally in your heart?

Perhaps he is right here – as you, the reader, read these words. Perhaps he is inviting you to know, that what you are looking for is actually what is looking at and reading these words in this very moment of your existence. If you are open, this may be what you have been looking for.

Blog: Why Don’t We Wake Up to Our Greatness?

I approached Manhattan from 20 thousand feet in the plane as we angled toward JFK Airport. I’ve been teaching The Sedona Method for 15 years and as we approached the runway, I had the thought, “Why don’t we just GET it, that we are unlimited?” When the creator of The Sedona Method, Lester Levenson, awoke to the truth of his unlimited nature in 1952, he spoke with others about the same truth for many years, but our mind is too loud to hear anything other than what it wants to believe. For instance, that life is hard work and then we die. I know we don’t all believe that extreme, but many of us have those moments.

As much as it can seem self-evident that we are an incredible mystery pumping quarts of blood through miles of the circulatory system in our body and replicating millions of cells as you read these words, we resist accepting this miracle as who we are. We’d rather believe in our learned limitations, (not good enough, too old, too young, not smart enough etc.) than be open to this cosmic truth of our being. Thus, we emotionally suffer and often die feeling unfulfilled.

This technique, The Sedona Method, is designed to gently accept those limiting beliefs, then investigate beneath them to see their roots in misunderstandings of who we are. In that brief, but life-changing moment, you let go of those roots to see what happens without holding on, and you suddenly experience a boundless field of possibilities before you and within you. This is the freedom Lester Levenson invited us to see and know.

I invite you to simply experiment and move past the limitations of your mind briefly ~ and open to the possibilities of happiness and fulfillment in this very moment that you read these words. It would be my pleasure to support you in knowing how to experience this openness for the rest of your life. See my schedule of events in the Calendar link above.

February 12-13 and April 16-17 are the next Sedona Method Foundation Courses in New York. Advanced courses are coming in March and May as well, including the first East Coast Five-Day Intensive.

Blog: WHAT CAN BE NEW IN THE NEW YEAR?

NOTE: Free Introductory Evenings in New York City, Jan. 18, 25, Feb. 8, 2011

“Tons lifted off my shoulders”
Edward Grossman, Monroe, NY

“…Years of stories and hang-ups gone in seconds!”
Helen Wingate, UK

“I’ve been given an experience of who I am behind all the stories, roles, history…Thank you, David, from the bottom of my heart.”
Dhiresha Marshall, Durham, NC

“I have so much gratitude for you, David, for your gentle and loving approach to making the Sedona Method a natural part of life. Releasing is happening almost automatically. The only way I can think of to thank you enough is to tell everyone I meet, just how close within their reach freedom really is.”
Annie Smutko, New York, NY

These are quotes after attending a Sedona Method basic or advanced weekend. If any of the words above resonate with you, please honor your own happiness for this coming year and read more or reserve your spot in the next seminar nearest you. Who you truly are, beneath your fear requires no changing, but rather uncovering. Your self-defeating beliefs about money, your body, intimacy, and love, don’t require changing, but rather letting go.

So for this New Year, I invite you to learn to, or increase your ability to, let go of what covers your greater sense of life and the loving Truth of who you are. The Sedona Method is unparalled in its speed of letting go of the old and revealing the deepest you. Both the Foundational and Advanced courses are open doorways to a more fulfilling experience of your life.

Freedom is possible. Freedom from anxiety, confusion, lack of clarity. Freedom is yours to have now, during the challenges of the coming year, and for the rest of your life.

Happy New Year!

Blog: Show Me the Love. How to Stop Self-Judgment.

As I look out at the cold wintery woods from inside my friend’s warm home here in North Carolina, I catch my breath after teaching The Sedona Method and advanced course "What’s Love Got to Do With it?" around the world, from New York City, to Holland, London, and North Carolina.

Certainly, the topic of love is a universal one, but the issue of self-judgment and non-love of ourselves is just as universal, yet less addressed.

Do you judge or criticize yourself? Does it sabotage your happiness, success, or well-being? Self-judgment is a learned habit. Thus, luckily it can be unlearned. We picked it up at some early point of our lives. It can be a family or cultural lineage carried on sometimes for generations. And What’s Love Got to Do With it? Everything. However, it’s not enough to simply say, we should be more loving to ourselves. Letting go of our non-love is the key, but how is that done?

While teaching around the world I saw face after face go from heaviness and suffering to lightness, openness, and peace as people recognized the freedom and love found in letting go of self-judgment and self-punishment. This happened as they discovered the lie of being "bad", imperfect, always wrong, or unloveable.

Imagine, I mean in this very moment, seriously, this very moment, what it would be like to have your eyes rest on this page without a mental background of "you should be, in any way, different than who you are in this moment." You should be more productive, better looking, more responsible, and the million additional thoughts of, "I should…" If these thoughts didn’t exist for this moment, can you get a sense of the relief and how the mind quiets a bit?

When we let go of our non-love and negative self-thoughts, our true nature is revealed: a quiet presence, love, a peace beyond description. From this place we deal more patiently with our teenagers, eat more healthy, have no fear to tell those we care about that we love them, or drive in traffic with more calm. In short, life changes in all ways when we love ourselves and when we accept that the source of love we have been seeking is right here within ~ waiting for our attention.

But you know all this. Self-love has been preached for ages. So what am I saying that’s new? I’m saying you can actually let go of the non-love, then the self-love is natural, organic, and forever.

Lester Levenson, founder of The Sedona Method, said, as did many-a-wise-sage, "Love is the foundation of our existence". Consider, right now, letting go of your self-judgment. If this seems hard or impossible, please take what you’re reading seriously. Click here for more about this technique of inner freedom, The Sedona Method.

Read what Norbert Martin, from Switzerland, said after the Love Course and the Sedona Method,
"At the outset of this course, I experienced a shift in consciousness, a great broadening of courageousness. It was a real surprise to discover a new strength … just springing from within. Not only has this shift persisted until now, a month after the course, but it is still expanding."

Join Norbert and the thousands around this spinning globe who are dissolving self-punishing thoughts and feelings and uncovering a new way of experiencing life ~ with a new love for themselves, others, and for life itself.

Blog: “Letting go” happened ~ and then …

When participants begin a transformational weekend to face their stress, anxiety, and their life, they bring many different expectations, from doubt, to excitement, to desperately wanting to be somewhere else. But on this specific Sedona Method weekend after learning and applying the principles of letting go, the results were life-changing. Read what a few of the participants said …

"What an astounding weekend! I appreciate David’s sense of humor, knowledge and being! Yesterday I thought I was happy, but now I am more than happy … I am free! Thank you!"
Jim Ewing, Ithica, NY

"I realized that many of the feelings that I was suppressing grew lives of their own and created confusion in my life."
John Warner, Leesburg, VA

"I stopped eating sweets. I have almost no arguments with my husband anymore and I no longer shop as if it is the end of the world."
Vera Araujo, New York, NY

"I realized that there were feelings I’ve been harboring for over ten years. Without knowing how to get rid of them they were constantly suppressed. I … kept them for so long because I felt justified to keep them – but why do it? I finally saw that it even was possible to let them go. Before, my version of letting go was suppressing. I don’t need them any more!"
Catherine Warner, Valley Vintage, CA

"Clarity. Ease. Joy. Confidence. Hopefulness. Deep Gratitude. I see expansive possibilities like mountains above limiting thoughts and beliefs and emotions …"
Daniel Hoffman, Ridgewood, NJ

Blog: The Global Soul Want’s to laugh

I stepped back after performing in the streets of Hong Kong and applause broke out – also in the USSR (photo: Red Square with a famous Russian clown – when I had hair!), in India, and in many other countries. People love to laugh and be entertained. Why is this true?

First let me bring you up to speed. Before I became a global instructor of The Sedona Method, I was a mime and actor for 30 years on 5 continents for thousands of people on stage, television, and in film. I had the honor of meeting great souls, including noted author Norman Cousins, best known for healing himself from a degenerative spinal disease through laughter and massive doses of vitamin C. He generously endorsed me by saying, "David Ellzey is an accomplished court jester to humanity". Cool? I agree. An honor. But …

What does any of this have to do with you? Well, do you like to laugh or be entertained? The human soul relinquishes some of its suffering briefly when laughing. The mind quiets, pleasure chemicals are released in the body and brain and voila, our love of laughter. My discovery around this spinning earth is that all souls love to laugh, love to relax, love to forget their suffering and issues of life, love to live fully in the now. But there’s a small problem.

If we laughed all the time, we would look VERY funny and never get anything done. Hmmm On second thought, not a bad idea! But not very practical. The sad part is that other emotions like anxiety, fear, anger, all release chemicals too, but much less pleasing. In fact, they are harmful to our health if too many of these chemicals course through our veins and bodies for too long.

What’s the solution? Can you choose to stop reading this if you wish, or turn your head left or right? You have the ability to choose even when things seem more difficult. The option still exists, always, for certain things. I realize that you can’t choose different weather in your home town, for instance, but inwardly, with time, you learn you can actually choose what to do with your emotions. Anxiety, fear, and anger need not run your life. You have a choice. You can suppress them, pour them out into the world through expresssion or let the feelings go, dissolve them in this moment, and perhaps for the rest of your life. Intriqued? Would you like to speak, act, and love with calmness, strength and clarity, rather than from emotional reactivity and fear or anger?

In 1952 he was told he had two weeks to live. Lester Levenson chose instead to look inside at all his stored emotions and in letting them go, discovered the power of his own healing. He lived for forty two more happy years. He created the Sedona Method for you and I to use in our daily lives to feel the happiness and freedom that he found. Would you like to be free of the grip some emotions have on you and your life?

Click on the Calendar link above to see when and where in London, Holland, New York , and North Carolina you can learn this easy skill. As a bonus some of these upcoming courses have the extra treasure of being focused on dissolving non-love feelings you have for yourself and the world. These courses are for both new students and graduates. Could you love yourself more? It will change your life. Get out your calendar and mark the dates in September and October. Come shake my hand and say hello. Let’s laugh and enjoy life together. You up for it?

All my very best wishes for your freedom and happiness,

When Lester Levenson, the creator of The Sedona Method, was given a few weeks to live from a second heart attack, he found a lifetime of suppressed emotions stored inside himself. Medical research now shows emotions can drastically impact our health. Lester released the emotions, his body healed, and he lived another forty two years with a deep unlimited sense of being.
