Of the roughly 150 people that are here, I’d say a good half knew what they were in for..jpg)
The other half, whoa! It was a bit of a surprise, although a powerful and life-changing one. This 9-day retreat is led masterfully by Hale Dwoskin, director of training of Sedona Training Associates and a dear friend. On the 9-day retreat we very methodically investigate the appearance of a "me", separate from life. This was Lester Levonson’s discovery in 1952 and was the foundation of the Sedona Method, to assist in dissolving the appearance and pain of separation.
If you don’t go into your memory to remember experiences that have defined your individual identity, or you don’t focus just on the body, can you actually find the "me" that you refer to in normal conversation? Or is it an appearance recreated by the mind each time. This "me" is the one who suffers with the world not being the way he or she wishes and fears for its mortality. So then if we are not a separate me, what are we?
If you investigate the very existence of this mini-me, you discover it is only mind-based and what remains in its place is the You that is aware of the "idea" of a separate me. You see that you are what can be called boundless Awareness itself, or Presence, void of much of the suffering associated with the struggling mini-me. Feelings or thoughts may rise and fall within this awareness, but they have no impact, much like a cloud in the sky which comes and goes, yet doesnt impact the fullness of the sky. THIS is when lightness and laughter began on this retreat..
