I am a lucky man. As an entrepeneur and small business owner I make my own work schedule. Great, huh? Yes and …
You see, the little kid in me says "summer forever!". So because I don’t have a timeclock to check in my work hours, I can put off getting back to work for days. And do, sometimes. But not this time. Too much I am excited about - including sharing with you a few tips to support you in returning to work or starting this Fall season on a good note.
1. Know that seasons come and go. Summer will come again. Change offers a chance to remember that who you truly are is more than any season.
2. The feelings that rise in you regarding work or the workplace also come and go depending on who and what you are dealing with. Again, this points to the transiency of feelings and the permanence of your Presence that witnesses the coming and going. Remember that you are that which observes, but never changes.
3. Notice the stress that rises is actually occuring inside yourself. It is not outside you. Noone is putting it inside you. It is self created. Granted, circumstances trigger it, but it is still "your" response that is the discomfort. Let go of choosing that response and see how your life changes.

I am out the door to a weekend of frolicking in the sea at the New Jersey Shore with great friends.
I have no doubt it will be a delight and pleasure. But it doesnt have to be. I could choose to worry about things back in my life. Who knows, I could worry about world politics or global warming or things closer to home like my health or money. All are topics that are important to pay attention to (not 100% of the time) and some of which I feel deeply about.
Here’s my point. If you have this weekend to play or even just a few hours off from work this weekend, letting go of saving the world during those precious moments of play is one step closer to saving yourself. And aren’t you an integral part of this world? Thus, you can call it saving the world one by one, starting with yourself.
Here’s to letting go! There is plenty of time to contribute to life in ways we feel moved to do. Taking a break for your health of body and spirit is required as well. You deserve it …

My family reunion is going wonderfully. The video below is shot at the corral on our family’s land after a ride in the pasture. My apologies for the delay in blogs in this past week. I have been traveling and now have landed here in the plains of Texas where we are having a family reunion.
I stepped off the plane into the hot and thick Amarillo air, and my body felt at home since I began life here in Amarillo where I was born 50 years ago. A sweetgrass smell fills the air since the small airport is in the fields outside of the city. My family has this gathering once every two years. About 40 of us or more. I am writing this from the parking lot of a Best Western Hotel where there appears to be an internet signal. Closer to our family ranch where we hold the reunion there is no signal, so this blog entry will be followed within a week I hope. That is if I make it back to this spot next to the Best Western in the middle of the wide plains.
I will have great pics and video when I return (If not before). Yes I will be wearing a cowboy hat too! So you have a great week or two and I will sneak back into the parking lot when I can. Remember that no matter where you are; the Texas plains, Europe, Seattle, New York or anywhere in between, peace, a quiet mind, and a wonderful life await you when you bring your attention to this present moment. So … pause long enough, right now, take a breath, lower your shoulders, and bring your attention back to this moment. Here you can always find the iner treasure you are searching for.
